DESCRIPTION:Our Literacy Adventure & Spring Fundraiser kicks off on February 28th! Throughout the week\, students will participate in a number of reading adventure activities like our kickoff assembly\, track their reading at home\, and participating in Camp-Read-A-Lot Spirit Week. \nWe are also asking families to participate by supporting their students in their reading\, and donating to our Camp-Read-A-Lot Spring Fundraiser. \nOur school community is strong\, but we’re facing financial challenges due to unmet Fun Run goals and upcoming district budget cuts. To protect the programs that inspire our students\, we need your help. \nJoin our Camp Read-A-Lot Fundraiser by contributing $31 for each of your students (that’s just $1 a day for March Literacy Month). Every dollar goes directly to programs that foster creativity\, curiosity\, and a love of learning–and reading! With your contributions we can make it to our fundraising goal of $15\,000. If you can give more and sponsor an additional child/children\, your generosity will go even further. Every donation counts! SUMMARY:National PTA Reflections Contest 2024
DESCRIPTION:Explore the Arts and Express Yourself\n\n\n\n\n\nNational PTA has a long-standing commitment to arts education. The Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life. \nEach year\, over 300\,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-created theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts\, feelings and ideas\, develop artistic literacy\, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life. \n\n\n\n\nPre-Kindergarten through grade 12 students are encouraged to submit original works of art in one or more of the following categories: \n\nDance\nChoreography\nMusic Composition\nFilm Production\nLiterature\nPhotography\nVisual Arts\n\nStudents who identify as having a disability may enter in the Accessible Arts division or grade division most closely aligned to their support needs. \nReflections submission deadline: November 27\, 2024 \nSUBMISSION FORMS & RULES >> \nStudent entries submitted to the local\, state and national level go through multiple rounds of review by esteemed arts professionals across the country. Over 200 students are recognized for their achievements in the arts and their works are exhibited throughout the year. Top national-level winners are provided prizes and scholarships and their works are showcased and exhibited. \nReflections celebration will take place on December 5th from 5:30 – 6:30 (just prior to the December PTSA Meet Up).

DESCRIPTION:The Harvest Carnival is one of Hazelwood’s most beloved events full of fun\, games\, prizes\, food\, and costumes encouraged (but not required). \n* SENSORY QUIET HOUR: 1-2PM *\nThis year we will have a special sensory quiet hour at the beginning of the carnival– it is a time and space for children who would benefit from a calm\, quiet and accessible environment\, whereas areas around the school during the carnival may cause sensory overload. \nTickets on sale now – PURCHASE TICKETS HERE!\n$10 per child\, $20 max per family. There is no charge for grown-ups accompanying a child.\nAdmission purchase includes access to all games\, crafts\, popcorn & water booth\, and activities\, plus 5 tickets for prize drawing entries! \nVOLUNTEERS NEEDED – SIGN UP HERE!\nOver 100 volunteers are needed to make this event successful! Grab a friend and sign up for a shift!\n \nWe keep the cost of entry low in hopes that more of our community can join us. The cost of your ticket covers the cost of the total event. Hazelwood students will be running to help our school raise as much as we can for STEM enrichment\, technology resources\, community events\, garden and art supplies and curriculum\, books for all grades\, music and P.E. resources and and most of all supports and enriches the education of all students in our community.
