Our Literacy Adventure kicks off on February 27th to celebrate literacy month! Throughout the week, students will participate in a number of reading adventure activities like our kickoff assembly, fill in as many squares as they can on their BINGO sheets, and participate in Camp-Read-A-Lot Spirit Week.

Kickoff Assembly with Garry Gilliam Jr: February 27

We’ll kick off with an assembly with Special Guest and former Seahawk Garry Gilliam Jr. Garry will be sharing his children’s book The Bleacher Garden, a book about how a neglected stadium turns into a thriving community garden where neighbors come together to grow fresh fruits and vegetables. 

Spirit Week: March 2 – March 6

Show up to school each day according to the following themes:

Monday: Mustang Monday – Wear your favorite Hazelwood spirit gear
Tuesday: Let’s Go Camping – Come dressed for the outdoors, ready for adventure
Wednesday: Go Team! Wear your favorite sports team gear or colors
Thursday: Character Day – Show up as your favorite story character from a book or movie
Friday: Reading Rainbow – Each grade dresses in the colors below to come together as a Reading Rainbow

Ready K – Red
Kindergarten – Orange
1st – Yellow
2nd – Green
3rd – Blue
4th – Purple
5th – Pink
Staff – White
